Plants in your path workshop
Hosted by Hinge Collaborative, Waterville Creates, and Colby Arts. Workshop venue Colby Greene Block & Studios, 18 Main Street, downtown Waterville
May 18, 1-4 pm
Join author Maggie Herskovits for a day of activities celebrating the plants in your path. First, Maggie will read excerpts from her new book, 'An Urban Field Guide to the Plants, Trees, and Herbs in Your Path.' Then we will walk around Waterville to visit a diverse scene of urban habitats and meet the plants that call the city home; we will discuss plant identification markers, history, geography and fun facts about the ruderal ecosystem. And then back inside, we will create one-page zines that tell the urban plants' stories as they move through life from 'Seed to Seed'.
PLANT WALKS
Join me on a walk around Burlington where we will visit a diverse scene of urban habitats and meet the plants that make them their home. We discuss identification markers, plant history, geography and fun facts about plants and the ruderal ecosystem.
EACH PLANT WALK INCLUDES A COMPLIMENTARY URBAN FIELD GUIDE TO accompany you + take home
This little field guide presents 15 plants that can be found growing throughout our urban home. Detailed illustrations coupled with facts about growth habits and history bring to light the life of these urban plants. This book is to help us connect to our place, name the plants, recognize their survival skills and admire their brilliance!

Gardening with the Wild
WORKSHOPS
Manage weeds aka spontaneous plants in your garden by understanding their growth habit and life cycle. Learn about the plants beyond the label of weed; where they come from, if they traveled here - how and when, historical uses, and their ecological services. Working with spontaneous plants in your garden can provide food and shelter for wildlife, and lessen your work effort, all while maintaining a beautiful, inviting space!
